Reading Caterpillar, a library for children opened in early 2009. It was born out of a need for a library and reading space for young children. Authors, storytellers, illustrators, artists, parents, crafts persons and all book lovers have been an integral part of Reading Caterpillar. Reading groups, book and art programs are a regular feature at the library.

The Delhi Public Library (DPL) was established in 1951 by then Ministry of Education, Government of India with financial and technical assistance from the UNESCO. At present, the Delhi Public Library is functioning under the administrative control of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Its Headquarter is located in Chandni Chowk opposite Old Delhi railway station. DPL provides free library services to the children, and adults irrespective of any distinction of sex, caste, creed, and religion. DPL also looks after their recreational needs to harness the latent potential of the members of the public by providing a suitable platform for socio-cultural activities.
